Mary Baker Engen: A Legacy of Contribution to Aviation
February 14, 2006

The aviation industry owes a debt of gratitude to Mary Baker Engen. Mrs. Engen, widow of former FAA Administrator Donald Engen, died of cancer on February 6th in West Chester, PA.

Mrs. Engen's contributions to the aviation industry were far-reaching. The Engens figured prominently in Washington aviation circles during both Reagan and Bush administrations, and Mrs. Engen became a board member at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum in 1999. While her husband was director of the Air and Space Museum, she worked closely with him on planning and fundraising to bring the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center at Dulles International Airport, the companion facility to the Museum on the National Mall.
