ACAA Welcomes Indianapolis International Airport
February 9, 2006
The Air Carrier Association of America (“ACAA”) is pleased to welcome Indianapolis International Airport as the newest associate member. Opened in September 1931, Indianapolis International Airport is served by several airlines offering 41 non-stop destinations to the Indianapolis community and beyond.
Indianapolis International Airport experienced unprecedented growth in 2005, serving a record 8.5 million passengers, thus marking the third consecutive year of significant passenger growth. The Airport’s continued growth allows consumers to "benefit from intense competition between airlines as they focus on increasing market share and increasing aircraft load factors,"stated the Airport’s Director, Patrick Dooley. "At the same time, consumers benefited in 2005 from record low fares to both leisure and business markets."
AirTran Airways announced on January 31st that it will expand its route network from Indianapolis International Airport with new daily nonstop flights to Los Angeles and San Francisco. "Over the past year, our customers at Indianapolis International Airport have embraced AirTran Airways because it offers low-cost, convenient and high-quality service," stated Dooley. "By choosing to grow its business here, AirTran Airways once again is demonstrating its confidence in the Indianapolis market and its commitment to air travelers throughout Central Indiana."
